Taking a new game back to argos.

Options
Hi,

For my birthday i was given a £10 gift card, i never use argos as they charge to much usually but i decided today that i would buy a game for my brother, the total was £17 so i used the £10 from the gift car and paid the rest with cash. I later found out he has already got that game and ive brought him another game from game.

If i take the original game back to argos will i be able to get a cash refund or will the refund have to be put onto a gift card?

Thanks

You will be lucky if you get a refund in any way shape or form unless you can prove the game is faulty....and you BOUGHT it! LOL

Gordikin - I think it is OK as long as the game is still sealed in the shrinkwrap. Which it should be if the OP is being honest with us. If he decided to play it himself and took it out of the wrapping then he's out of luck!
  • If you get a refund of any sort you will either get £17 on a gift card or £10 gift card and £7 cash. You won't get 17 in cash
  • Yes, I think if the game has not been opened, you have receipt and its within 28days of purchasing it you should get £7 cash and £10 on gift card.

For games that are still fully wrapped with the original label on (with the cat no) that a store will exchange or refund.

Assuming it was a £16.99 game and you paid with a £10 gift card and £6.99 cash you will be refunded the same methods how you paid.

Fab - that's cleared that up. I did have a look at Argos T&C for OP but ti didn't mention how the refund would be paid but most places like to give it back exactly the same way. Stops money laundering I suppose.

Yep. I've had customers going spare at me because I wouldn't give them cash for none faulty returns with no receipt, so I said come back with your original receipt showing cash tender and I will refund it, not seen them since!!

The 30 day returns have undergone a minor change. Our till system used to say for any exempt items that "THIS ITEM IS EXCLUDED FROM THE 30 DAY MONEYBACK GUARANTEE. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS", but for the games ranges it now says "IF THE WRAPPING IS SEALED AND UNDAMAGED THIS ITEM IS NOT EXEMPT FROM THE 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE, THIS DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS".
