Subscription to The Times

Just thought I would warn any subscribers to The Times who have been on a good deal for a few years that they are hiking the weekly cost. I got in my renewal letter today to say that the weekly cost of my subscription was going up from £4 to £6. Have phoned straight away to cancel as I have been thinking about ending my subscription anyway - personally think the quality of the paper has deteriorated, and quite happy to read it online. The chap on the phone said he couldn't offer me anything better as they are trying to bring subscribers on a "special" deal in line with current subscribers.....

My subscription voucher deal was £10 a month but has just gone up to £16 a month. But this is guaranteed for 48 weeks.0 -

Things are getting tight in the newspaper industry. There is talk that the Observer is going to close, and there has been wholesale redundancies in many national and local papers. It's mainly down to the drop in advertising revenue. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

No, I think this will be the norm. Why should newspapers provide the free content online, Murdoch Jnr has been talking about charging for at least a year now and Trinity Mirror are considering it too.0
