Gas VS Electricity

Can anyone tell me the answer to this....
is it cheaper to boil an electric kettle or an old fashioned whistling one on a gas stove if
gas is 6.53p per KWh
electric 22.19p per KWh

ie is electric so efficient its cheaper or is the gas as good

    Welcome to the forum.

    Firstly you have given the tier 1 prices for gas and electricity(only the first few kWh are charged at that price) a more representative price is arround 3.5p gas and 10p electricity.

    This question has been posed many times on MSE. Whilst gas would appear to be cheaper, there will be a lot more heat lost in warming the stove.

    That said we are really talking in small fractions of a penny in the difference to boil a kettle.
