i have recently installed a new monitor (videoseven summat or other) and have found my internet connection is a lot slower now and keeps cutting out....i have checked the leads and wires and there are no loose ones....so, i have now re-installed the driver for the monitor to see whether that helps - so far so good, but, usually it starts pretty quick and slows down anyway so only time will tell..........but.....does the monitor affect your internet connection? could a monitor be too powerful for a certain computer and that? how do i speed up my computer?
i know thats a lot of questions but hopefully i will crack it once and for all....
also, my screen is much too large now - how do i make it smaller? forgotten lol....
thanks

It is unlikely that your screen driver will slow you internet connection. The only way this will happen is if you have some sort of auto update on the driver that is corrupted or just buggy which means it is trying to connect to the internet constantly.
However, to be sure, you can download sygate (https://www.snapfiles.com/freeware) then it will tell you whats trying to connect to and from your computer. If you don’t have a firewall then you need one. I recommend sygate as its simple to use for joe bloggs as its all Icon based and asks you really simple questions like
“Microsoft Word is trying to connect to the internet” (with a button to say yes allow or no don’t allow and of course a optional check box to say always remember my answer).
The next question is what could be the reason for you internet slow down. If your using modem its more likely to be your modem drivers, if your using broad band then its likely to be your adsl drivers.
However the most likely answer is that you have software on your PC probably spyware that is trying to connect to the internet constantly, but yet again without a firewall you cant really tell.
If the problem persists drop me a mail and I’ll run through the standard diagnostics that you need to do in order to resolve the problem

You have not stated the model of your new monitor but if it is a new TFT monitor, you will need to set the correct screen resolution.
Right click on your desktop and click on Properties, Settings and change it to the correct resolution for your monitor i.e. 1280 x 1024. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
