                    i know some of you will recognise what i am going to say and others will probbaly think 'you silly fat cow just stop eating' but i need help!
i know this sounds a cliche but i have tried many of the diets out there some with little sucess and some with non.
I am mum of 3 (who where all born within 4 years) im only 28 but look and feel disgusting.
im currently working and have just finished some studies and will hopefully get on my degree for this sept. my husband works really early in morning and doesnt come home till 6-7pm at which point i am trying to feed the children and get them sorted for bed and school.
im also starting a 2nd job sept which luckily i have family help with having the children after school and nursery. i wont finish til 6.
im depserate to get thin and all sorts of stupid ideas pop into my head to how i can do it. i dont want to sound like im full of excuses either. i just really hate food and wish i could just eat nothing at all, cause once i start i feel that i cant stop, i do contribute some of my weight issues to my early childhood and to the fact its always been a BIG issue to my mom.
i am slowly creeping into a size 18, and feel like i have no control over myself and my eating habits. after i eat anything i hate myself. i cant see the light at the end of the tunnel and definatley cant imaging me ever being slim and getting there.
does anyone have any advice

            Read the Paul Mckenna book "I can make you thin" it works on altering your mental approach to food......0

 the problem for me is i get these ideas into my head, and then other things in life take over and become my priority, i always put myself to the back of the que, especially as my children are still very young.

            There is no magic wand. Somethings do take some hard work, but if you put that work in the rewards are there......0

 Please don't feel like that about yourself; you're not that bad and have made a huge step forward by deciding to do something about yourself. Of course you're always hungry! Look how much you have to do! Have you tried low carbohydrate? It means that you can eat as much food as you need, so you won't get desperately hungry. Most people start with Atkins, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone in your position as induction is very tough for carb addicts. Try and get hold of a book by Dr Charles Clark or Barry Groves. Both are British and don't have inductions. Read the explanations as well as the diet parts, and you'll be ressured how healthy they are. Nerys and India's book is fun to read, but is basically Atkins.
 I couldn't go back on low calorie now, I get too frantically hungry! There's a low-carb support board on here you might like to join.

            I think the trouble is sometimes that people try to make a HUGE change and then they can't sustain it so then they feel like a failure and the cycle contimues.
 My advice would be to start with a small change then when that becomes normal and natural to you then start another small change. It be a weekly thing that you add, maybe keep a diary of it on here. Baby steps lead to big things, it might be a cliche but I think its true I really do.
 So if you went with this principle what small thing could you change?
 I.e moving more, when you go upstairs don't walk, run.
 Or no more deep fried chips only oven chips. (Just suggestions make up your own, you know what things you need to change).
 You will feel impatient if you are unhappy with yourself and want a big change but nothing much will change if you try a quick fix then fail except you will feel worse.0

            Don't forget that keeping yourself healthy is one of the best things you can do for your children so do try to keep a little time aside to get for a walk or whatever exercise suits you. It's important that they see exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle but also that Mum is around to see them get married and to be a grandma so you are not being selfish by holding onto your own exercise time, it's an investment for them as well as you.
 That said I have no kids as excuses and am also a 16/18:( so I really feel your pain. I'm doing slimming world at the minute for the first time - I always said I wasn't desperate enough to do it but now I am. And I have to admit I need the support! Might be worth a try?0

 This sentence on its own suggests that you have a carb addiction, please take a look at the low carb thread on here, atkins and similar diets really change lives and perceptions of what you should and shouldn't eat, I do know, I've been there:) I made up my own version and still eat the same way today through choice several years down the line. Low carb diets are a pig to adjust to for at least the first couple of weeks, especially if you love your carbs (as I did) but the weightloss and sense of control soon outweigh the downside and it gets much easier until it becomes how you eat rather than a diet. Also you cant blame anyone else for your choices with food, you are an independent adult with your own thoughts and beliefs, sorry I know that sounds harsh but if you start with a good attitude towards food now then your little ones wont be blaming you or even have a problem in the future basically you can break the cycle and make a huge achievement:) Best of luck:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

            Chin up, just remember that YOU CAN DO IT, you just have to know when you're ready. Feeling like this doesn't mean you're actually ready, you have to know in your heart that you're ready to make changes and stick to a plan.
 If you 'try' and make changes just because you feel you have to or others say you should, its not enough. It takes a lot of will power, time and commitments to make these changes.
 I know, im 27 and have dropped 2 nearly 3 dress sizes since the middle of January. Im following weight watchers, but i wanted to join end of last year, but i just knew i wasn't ready to make a proper commitment and knew id fail myself.
 But mid January i knew i was ready, i first joined weight watchers and then 2 mths after doing that i joined a gym, if i done both at the same time i felt it was going to be too much and one would slip.
 Fast forward to now, both are still on the go. I have my bad days and good days, but thats part of the process, learning about yourself and planning ahead, thats a really big key with weight watchers, making the time to plan everything. I know its not for everyone, but it works for me, i can have that drink or that chocolate etc, i just have to plan ahead and if i am going out or its someones bday etc, just save pts every day to use on the occassion.

            Not wanting to sound harsh, but there is no easy way to do it, the science is simple (more calories out than in = weight loss) but everyone has their own demons or issues to deal with. The first thing I would suggest is don't think of it as a diet, more of a long term change of lifestyle. Diets may work for a short time but unless you make a proper habit of the healthiness, and deal with your individual issues, then the likelihood is it'll all go back on again.
 Agree with small steps though. Try and do a new thing every few days or a week, my initial suggestions:
 Cut out/down the obvious unhealthy food, fried stuff, crisps, chocolate, full sugar fizzy drinks etc,
 Try and increase activity levels, a few mins extra walking a week, anything that gets the heart going a bit more,
 Reduce portions, more veg/salad to make up the plate,
 Aim for more smaller meals spread throughout the day to maximise metabolism,
 Try and reduce carbs such as pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, (or at least make sure they are the brown variety instead) but don't get hung up on eating proper 'low carb',
 Keep a (honest!) log of a couple of random days' worth of food on a site such as sparkpeople so you know what figures you are looking at and can then make tweaks.
 Once these things are second nature, then hopefully results will come shortly after. If it doesn't seem to be happening, then you'll need to either reduce calories more, or increase exercise and see what happens there.
