Wiring light help

Trying to replace my light switch, the connections appear to be like those described in the 4th to last picture on this link: http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/diy/electrics/light_fitting/changing_light_fitting.htm
I connect the Live wire to switch live, Blue wire to the two Neutral Wires, and Earth wire to Earth connection.
The problem I have is when I connect live connection ( Brown wire ) from the new light to switch live on the terminal block no electric current appears to go to the light and not sure why
I used an electric tester and it lights up when no wire is fed in to the terminal block and when I put the brown wire ( live ) in to the terminal block to the switch live connection the electric tester appears to not light up, so can't figure out why it would do this.
I tested switch live by switching the light switch on and off so got the correct connection here.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Are you talking about the switch, on the wall, or the light fitting on the ceiling.
Is there a single switch associated with the light or two?
At the ceiling fitting you should have three cables, two are the lighting ring and one is the drop wire to the switch, be careful to identify these properly.
The ring cable lives are all commoned up, as are the ring cable netrals and earth.
One side of the switch drop cable connects to the ring live group.
The light fitting is then wired between the return of the swich drop and the netral ring group.
All earths commoned together. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

.
Its a two gang switch - each switch lights up one lighting on the ceiling -the other light works since I haven't changed anything on that one.Is there a single switch associated with the light or two?

- Switch live has got a black sleave with red tape around it. It works by pressing the switch on and off at the wall.At the ceiling fitting you should have three cables, two are the lighting ring and one is the drop wire to the switch, be careful to identify these properly.

- Neutrals are all grouped together, which are black
- Live wires which are red are all grouped together as pictured in the link I provided in the first post
- Earth are group together.
The problem I have is switch live works when I don't put the brown wire from the new lighting in to it.0 -
did you make sure the switch was on before testing for power?
if youve wired it correctly try a bulb in it and use the switch.Get some gorm.0 -
Power goes to the terminal block in switch live once the switch is on
As soon as I connect the new light with a bulb - the power disappears from the switch live block. Meaning the bulb won't light up

I put the Live feed in to the switch live feed and the bulb does light up so no problems with the bulb. I'm experiencing problems with switch live.
I don't understand why no power goes to switch live when I connect the brown wire from the lighting to it.
When testing it I pulled the brown cable ( the lighting cable ) from the terminal block where it connects to switch live as soon as I do this the power then goes to switch live in the ceiling.0 -
Heres a photo in case it helps: http://s609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/darkcloudi/?action=view¤t=DSC01630.jpg
Left wire is switch live wrapped around using red tape.
Middle is the earth
On the right is the Neutral connections.
Just above this terminal block you can see the red live wires in a separate terminal block0 -
B****y awful picture, if you don't mind me saying. Not much help at all.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Apologise for the bad pic as it was taken with my phone and stretched a little which became distorted.
I found the problem it was my dimmer switch which blew possibly an overload when I connected the new light incorrectly, I replaced the switch with another switch in the house and the light works.
I thought it might be the connection to the light at fault since I was getting a switch live connection when pressing the switch but it was actual the switch at fault since not much power was going to the light from the switch.0
