It is a beautiful city that I have been to a few times before. We are thinking of going back in the summer as we can now get cheap direct flights from Bristol.keithboy40 wrote:what is krakow like. i'm thinking about a trip away with the wife in june and was wondering if it is worth visiting. which airlines fly there. what are the highlights and downfalls?
The city is excellent, but will probably only hold your attention for a couple of days at the most. My two recommendations for visits close to Krakow, posted in another thread about Poland, are to go to Auschwitz and Zakopane.
Auschwitz is something everyone should see just once in their lifetime. It is an awful place but it teaches you a very valuable life lesson.
Zakopane is an alpine ski resort in the south of Poland. The scenery is incredible, the Tatra mountains are the youngest in Europe and therefore haven't been eroded away like parts of the alps. The jagged peaks are breathtaking. Take a horse and cart ride up into the mountains.
