Confused with benefit

Hi everyone,

Bad news for me, it looks like i will be made redundant.

I am trying to work out what benifits i will get but it seems a maze  out there.

I get the impression i may get...

1. Council Tax Benift.
2. Job seekers allowance.
3. Child benift.
4. Possible Tax credits.
5. Help with mortgage.

When i phone these relevant people they say i have to make a claim before they will give me any indication of what i will get but as i have not be made redundant yet i can not do this. Its all a little worrying.

Could anyone help with real life examples of what i may get and for how long?

I am living with my partner and we have a 10 week old son.

My partner works 3 days a week and earns £500 a month.

We receive appox £ 90 a month in Child benifit.

I have a mortgage.

No savings.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Many thanks.

John.

I must confess I don't know. The only benefit I've ever claimed is JSA for a couple of months and so I'm not clear on what everyone can claim and how much.

I posted the link so you would have a better understanding as to the benfefits to which you are entitled. You indicated in your post that you "get the impression I may get" - I hoped the link would provide you with more clarity.

Hopefully someone will be along soon that will tell you exactly how much you will get based upon the information you have supplied.

It will tell you how much you could get. You need to complete it through to the final screen.
    Gone ... or have I?

Sorry, your right, i thought that was another Website i found...

It leads me to another question, it appears i may get up to 800 a month with Tax credits, JSA, child allowance etc.

What i need to to try and clarrify is how Tax credits work.

For instance it asks for the years earnings, well if i put in my years earnings to date wouldnt that mean i get alot less? Do they not work it out based on your current income? Which mine may soon be 0?

    Thanks again.
