Looking for a quiet resort (long haul)

I’ve been doing lots of research (esp. looking at photos and videos on Trip Advisor and You Tube) and unfortunately most of the places that I’m seeing look very crowded, full of groups of young(er) adults and don’t seem like the ‘get-away-from-it-all’ place.
We’re planning to go in the beginning of October, so I’m hoping things will be a bit more quiet then. Our best holiday ever was at the Flamingo Beach Resort in Costa Rica. It’s very small (only 100 rooms, I think), no buffet, so no queues (the all inclusive was a la carte), no one on the beach. Check out photos on Trip Advisor to see what I mean. We actually went there twice and wouldn’t mind going back again, but there are no longer any direct flights from the UK.
So now I’m comparing every resort to this place, and after a not-so-great holiday to Cuba in June (that was our third time in Cuba), I’m trying to do all I can to get it right this time.
So, to sum up, here’s what we’re looking for:
- Long haul (Mexico or Dominican Republic, although taking Grenada into consideration, but that might be slightly over our budget)
- Budget: £850 per person (usually book last minute, so I believe we can get something good at this price – our record is booking Cuba a day before departure)
- Dates: Leaving after 27Sept, but before 8 October, for 2 weeks
- All inclusive
- Nice beach, turquoise water
- Not in the middle of nowhere as we like to venture out of the resort (we’re not ‘sitting on the beach’ types)
- Quiet, we don’t mind children, but it’s the big groups of rowdy adults that are the worst
- Clean and not run down
Any tips are highly appreciated. Thank you.

We're looking for a similar holiday for next year (quiet, relaxing, all-inclusive, probably with good snorkeling) and finding it a bit difficult to know where to start.
We won't be booking last minute, we want to book with plenty of time to look forwards to it. Not sure if any particular time of year is better to book than others though.
Sorry I'm no help ayamjay, but I'll be following this thread to see what ideas are brought up...Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -
If you don't mind two stopovers, then I highly recommend Flamingo Beach Resort and Spa in Costa Rica.
I'm currently looking at a few resorts in Akumal/Tulum in Mexico.
Haven't got a plan B, though.0 -

If you are prepared to do a real long haul flight then I suggest you head for Bali. Rent a car and drive up to Lovina Beach. There are many small beach resorts there that are quiet, yet at the same time there is nightlife and shopping nearby.
The place itself is stunning . You can swim with the dolphins. The people are very friendly . The food is great and the service is second to none. And it is very very cheap in price, but not in quality. Message me if you are interested and I can go into more detail.0 -
The Maldives is wonderful but im not sure about the weather that time of year or prices.
