what product to use for smoothing over yard wall?

Hi, any help much appreciated.
I have a small yard and the walls of it are double thickness brick and the paint is coming off in places and generally scruffy.
So I decided to have a scrape at it and along with the paint in a few places chunks of brick have come off, they seem pretty crumbly.
What I want to know is what product and tools I need to use to fill these gaps and paybe give the whole thing a quick smooth over. It doesn't have to be too neat as the yard is fairly 'rustic' and nothing is smooth or 90 degrees etc. I just need it so it will take a coat of white paint and look ok.
Thanks
