My own car club?

I have a pretty familiar story - I need a car but can't afford to run one. I used to be a member of a car club (City Car club) but I've moved to an area with no local car club.
I live in an area with public transport that ranges from carp to none existent.

So I was thinking, what's to stop me setting up my own car club (to cover the costs of when I do need a car, about twice a week)

I was thinking of a small membership, small fees, and it being more of a social than a business enterprise - although I wouldn't refuse any profit. :rotfl:

So anyone, eveyone, please tell me why I can't do this!

Cheers

JJ

You won't be able to access the bulk fleet and insurance discounts.

Why not rent? We have a local car club that costs £50 membership + £40ish for a full days rental. I can rent a car for £17 per day from Enterprise.

This thread is relevant again with carclub being mentioned in the last newsletter email.

That £17/day from Enterprise, is that still possible?

I know my workplace gets a low rate but I can't see how to get less than ~£40 as a personal rate.

A great idea in that all you have to do is copy an aircraft or boating syndicate contract. Booking systems make easier now with online stuff like Google Calendar, and even some companies can arrange the accounting.

Doesn't have to be expensive either in this country, with working cars available for a few hundred quid for the ultra careful. Alternatively the vehicle could also be leased for simplicity. I've no idea why it isn't widespread. If it was you could have a countrywide network for one way trips. What a strange world we live in.
Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker
