Am I Covered?

This might be in the wrong area, if it is feel free to move it :D

I recently purchased a set of GHD's online. They were reasonably priced so I thought that I would grab myself a bargain. After I bought them the doubt crept in that they might be fakes so I checked the website address on the GHD website, not registered but it wasni on there known fake site either. I then checked out the domain address and its registered in China. When I got the product I put the product code into the GHD website and surprise surprise they were fake. I emailed GHD and they appear not to be interested. The seller is adamant that they are real and will not take them back.

My question is ... am I covered because i purchased them on my credit card? Or have i made a rather expensive mistake?

Any advice appreciated, cheers

When you say "bargain" how much did you pay?
Because to get bargain GHDs would suggest you pay well below £100?

(Especially as they were £82 from Amazon or somewhere last week...)

That depends how much you paid! Section 75 covers purchases over £100.

No, you may still be able to get them to do a chargeback - definitely speak to your card provider.

I have had successful chargebacks for transactions under £100 in the past.

Well in my case the items just didn't turn up

I really don't know what they will say in your case, but its got to be worth asking them surely.

Your c/card company will not be obliged to offer a refund under the Consumer Credit Act, but that shouldn't stop you from trying. I've disputed numerous times below the £100 threshold and have successfully had refunds on a 'goodwill basis'.
