After months of trying to get Sony to accept that there is a problem with their early PS2 (Disc Read Error) (they were even successfully sued in the USA and resulted in everyone affected getting their machine repaired) i've given up and gone to buy a new PS2. Here's how my shopping experience went today.
Argos - Check stock on machine, none available, time spent 1 minute
WH Smith - Wait 3 minutes at desk, ask to find that they had some before xmas but won't have any more in stock ever, time wasted 4 minutes.
Woolworths - No staff around on shop floor so wait 10 minutes in a queue as the only open cash desk spends 5 minutes dealing with a refund. Have in stock but MUST be bought in bundle for £130 with game. Politely ask for them to take the £30 game out the bundle and sell it to me for £100 - not allowed to apparently. Lifetime used up 15 minutes.
Game - Big signs up everywhere saying that PS2 is in stock. Ask staff - only as part of bundle. 2 minutes.
Gamestation - Don't sell them here - 1 minute
HMV - Big Signs up saying PS2 in stock. Walk over to shelf. PS2 box with price sticker on £104.99. Spend 10 minutes queuing but happy to have finally got it. "Sorry we haven't got any in stock". I reply could you take the signs down then please. They say they'll get someone to do it. "Could I take the box back to the shelf please. " What so someone else can go through the same procedure. No I shall not - I left the store leaving the box in the rubbish bin by the door. Wasted time another 1/4 of an hour.
I make that 38 minutes of time wasted and myself very pi**ed off. And WHSmith etc are in financial trouble? I only wanted to use up gift tokens.
3 minutes on Amazon.co.uk and i've got the product I wanted at the price I wanted without the extras i didn't want.
Now how can I hint at people to get me CDWOW,Amazon etc. vouchers instead of WHSmith,HMV,Woolies etc in future.

Watch out with amazon vouchers. My American uncle bought me vouchers for Amazon.com last year which can't be used on amazon.co.uk. Just tell them to give you cash!0

Cash would be ideal but that can be hard to tell someone and'll probably end up with me having nothing.Alex Jones0
