Boot sale-pre-pricing items?

I'm planning on doing a boot sale this weekend. I have TONS of stuff to get rid of, mainly toys which are in pretty good nick.

It's a good few years since I did a boot sale, and I'm wondering whether I should mark items with prices to get a starting point, or whether I should just wing it on the day?

Thanks

  • i would put some prices, like ' everything in the box 10p' etc, but dont price the main things (just have an idea of what you want to sell them for)
If you price everything and the prices are too high, it will put people (like me) off. And at the same time, if you dont price the items, but they look like they might be expensive, some people (like me) dont even bother asking.
But for me, by someone having boxes full of cheap stuff, it kinda shows that they arent after big money (even if everything else is expensive, it still makes me look harder and see if there is anything i want, so more likely to buy) which makes me more interested.
Not sure if that makes sense, and others might not agree with me, but thats what works for me as a buyer.
I see cheap boxes of stuff- i think cheap an look hard
I see expensive prices- walk away
I see no prices but the stuff looks good-usually walk away

Price everything IMHO. I made £190 last month and £280 last week at boot sales doing this.

I found people still haggle the price down if it's in their nature too regardless of a price sticker. I sometimes print off a small sign on A4 saying 'bogof' on books and people can't resist a bargain.
