Cost price (exc. VAT) for Painted (any colour you like) Optiwhite Toughened Safety glass, 6mm thick is £146.25 per square metre, £32.50 per internal cut-out and £20 per external notch. If you need any screw holes they are £1.50 each. So add VAT and a retail margin to get a realistic price.

You can save money by using standard glass (instead of Optiwhite) IF you are using a dark colour...

    Hope that helps...

or you can go to your local glass supplier and get them to do it for you - I was quoted a lot less than that but went with tiles in the end

That price IS from a local glass suppliers. It is cheaper using normal glass, but you get a poor finish with the colour if you don't use Optiwhite. Even cheaper still if you use float glass, but it damages far too easily...

You would need to want glass splash-backs an awful lot to be prepared to pay £146 .25 per sq. meter plus the cost of the electric cut outs. Not for me I think.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

    What is optiwhite?

I'm paying £470 for white painted glass (clear glass) for my kitchen splashbacks 2.2m (covers the wall up to wall cabinets and extractor) x 2.30m long upstand. The price includes cut outs for sockets.

Optiwhite is clear glass. Standard glass, although it looks clear, has a slight green tinge to it and when you paint a colour onto it, it can change it slightly...

Remember that you can knock off the price of a tiler.

I went to a local glass supplier, so I can't recommend a website, but they can do any colour - you just bring them a tester pot of the colour you like and they do a sample for you. I'm sure all the suppliers do that. I went through loads of samples before settling for white! :rotfl:
I'd recommend you go to someone local as they measure and do template for a perfect fit and also installation is included in the price, at least it is with mine.
