IT Students and Repairs.

Due to a little over enthusiastic cleaning today, I knocked a key cover off. nothing looks broken and I dare say easy for the knowledgable to fix.

I was wondering if the local IT students would like to do it at the same rate as the local Comp. man.

Would that be good or not?

If you mean a key from your keyboard, you should be able to pop it back on yourself.
  • I assume you're talking about a laptop and one of the keys?

Are you sure that's wise? they've probably never actually physically opened up a PC or laptop, let alone repaired one.

Had a chap where I used to work, had a beng(hons) in electronics, he'd never used a soldering iron and had to be shown how to use a multimeter and oscilloscope. Basic tools of the trade........

By the age of 14 i'd watched a PC be put together by my dad, and helped screw stuff in. I knew about 'earthing' myself and 2 years later I was going round my neighborhood getting paid to do PC repairs. This was 13 years ago... (And yes, i'd used a soldering iron and multimeter at school by that age)

I'm pretty sure there is a 16 year old in your neighbourhood that can fix it.. any of your friends got geeky kids about that age?

Yeah, if you've an interest in the subject then great..... But you forget that probably 80% of students are just doing whatever course they can in order to avoid getting a job.
