Belkin N+ PS3 Connection Problems!!!!!!

Hi, After some kind advice of some fellow MSE users i purcharsed a Belkin N+ Modem Router.

Set up the Modem Router on a Desk Top PC, works fine, linked to Wireless laptop fine, linked to Iphone no problem at all.. However!!

Now comes the problem, I simply cannot connect to the PS3 wirelessly while the security key is on!

When i drop the security key i can get on but it keeps dropping the signal and drops after 3/5 Mins and is sooooo frustrating.

I have tried adding the IP address of the PS3 into the DMZ but no joy what so ever!

I have a basic grasp of techie stuff however if someone can give me some ideas in plain old english i would be very very grateful.

Thanks

Dan

it varies between routers, but it should be in the wireless settings page in the WebGUI (or router admin panel).

on my (now blown up) netgear router it was under wireless settings.

edit - its not the same router, but this should give you an idea of what to do.

PS. see if you can notice the typo in the page ;)

also, is the firmware up to date on the ps3?

its under system > system settings > system info (i think). the latest firmware is either 2.80 or 2.90.

i had issues connecting my ps3 to a router with wpa-psk security, however that was in the days of firmware 1.XX. Upgrading the PS3 firmware solved the issue for me.
  • Still nothing!!!!!!

The firmware is up to date. And it is a problem with the WPA-PSK............

    Anyone have any Idea's?

    Frustrated!

    Thanks

sorry not to be more specific but I think read somewhere this might be an "issue" with some of the Belkin software. They have a help desk don't they? Have you tried phoning them? maybe you need to download a patch of some sort and they can tell you where to find it.

Pros: Initially the router kept dropping connection. You have to hard set settings in router to a diffrent channel and match that channel on your pc's, I recommend ch3. Because almost all routers default to 6, use diffrent ch.
    Cons: Read bottom line summary

Summary: And hard set to either 802.11b or 802.11g and do same on your pc. I have comcast cable modem and have got it to work. I had Linksys wrt300 and it died after 2 years. I've had this one for 2 days and now its not dropping connection and seems to work fast. If you buy this router, follow my recommendations. Your neighbors probably have wireless routers and they will be on the same ch as this one. Also set your SSID to something unique and disable broadcast so no one can piggy back on your router. I am a network administrator and this should help you get max performance from this devicev
