unpaid item dispute

Hi,
Could anyone give me some advice as when to close an unpaid item dispute. I opened one and the buyer has paid. Is it ok to close the dispute now or shall i wait until he confirms receipt of the item.
I have a bad feeling about this transaction as he was angry that i had opened the unpaid item dispute (as reported in another post). He has now sent me a message asking why the hell it was still open. I thought i was meant to keep it open until the transaction was complete - ie he had received the item.
He hasn't let me know he has received it or left any feedback yet.

How rude. I'd be tempted to leave it open just to annoy him... with an obvious risk to feedback though
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Thank you - i tend to agree with you. He's starting to annoy me now.
If he leaves negative feedback i will have to try to get it removed.0 -
i would negotiate, say ... ill close the dispute only if you leave me '+' feedback ... and ill do the same.
Happy days

I don't think hes up for negotiating - first message he swore at me, second one he wants to know why the hell the case is still open! If only i could leave negative feedback myself.
He hasn't actually replied to the unpaid item case at all. Just been sending messages to me.0 -
You probably shouldnt do this but tempting.
keep communicating through ebay and not the dispute, then if he doesnt respond by the 8th day to the dispute close it in your favour (issuing him the dispute) and then wait a bit and remove the strike as hes paid and just pop him an email saying sorry i clicked the wrong button having not had to do this beforehand.
He cant leave negative that way as hes not replied to the NPB dispute and it was closed in your favour0 -
I like that idea sunnysea83. Will there be any comeback on me?0

I dont know, ive never done it, been tempted too tho as ive had the odd non payer hes caused me problems. I think as long as you remove the strike there wont be.
Someone else might know the answer though0 -

This I like. I would then refund rather than remove the strike as this person does not sound like someone I'd want to do business with at all.0 -
If you do an NPB on a buyer that has paid and they appeal they will win the appeal easily as they have the paypal transaction and the seller gets a seller dashboard warning for abuse of the dispute system. So seller loses out as an abuse warning will affect your best match rating and puts you a small step nearer to suspension.
Tempting as it might be once the buyer has paid you really do need to close the dispute and say that the transaction has been completed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
