My Norton antivirus (complete with Go Back) expires in 2 days time and I wondered what the cheapest method of renewal is.
I clicked on the renewal notice which took me to Nortons site. They say £28.
When i purchased Norton I wasn't told of this annual renewal fee.
P.s I onlypaid £24.99 for it in the first place

Get rid of it and get Grisoft's AVG instead: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
It's totally free and works as well as Norton and others IMHO.Today a young man on acid realised that all matter is mearly energy condensed to a slow vibration; we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively; life is only a dream and we are the imaginations of ourselves. AVG's alright, but Kaspersky6 and BitDefender9 have much more features, detect more viruses, remove more viruses & more configurable.
personal choice... i think there are significant advantages of using the above compared to AVG and dont mind paying for these features... others may think the features arnt worth paying for.. individual prefrences.. upto the consumer.
i'm not saying AVG's crap, but its just not as good... considering its free, it is still excelent value-for-money!0 -
Totally agree with skiddy2k. I used AVG for some years until it let me down in a big way - reformat hard drive etc, etc !!!
I did a trawl of the net and bought BitDefender9 in the end.
Amazon have a 2 year year licence for BD9 at £31.99 at the moment.0 -

Also, another user here said they had a bad experience with AVG requiring a reformat. Well like a lot of software these days, it works perfectly until it f**ks up!! With so much software out there you're bound to get little problems (however a format/reinstall obviously meant a pretty big problem!)
I don't mean to evangelise about AVG, bit I was committed to getting rid of Norton and this was recommended, and I have recommended to others. Noproblems yet.
Lastly, we've just had Kaspersky rolled out on 50 machines at work, and I'm not enamoured with it yet. It's causing huge problems with MS Access and also causing machines to freeze for no reason.Today a young man on acid realised that all matter is mearly energy condensed to a slow vibration; we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively; life is only a dream and we are the imaginations of ourselves. Vaughany wrote:Detects and removes more viruses? I'm not so sure about that. Every AV product out there has to pretty much defend against ALL viruses or it's not doing its job properly
here's a link of AV comparison websites:
http://www.av-comparatives.org/ (click "comparatives" and see thediffrence in detection rates)
http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/default.asp?id=72&mnu=72
... just goes to show they dont all "pretty much defend against ALL viruses", therfore in your opinion, i guess none of the antiviruses are doing their job properly!... its upto the user to make a choice on what they want... there is no "best" AV out there, but the detection/removal of viruses is an essential part of an AV and can vary widley0
