    Hi all,

I don't usually post on the OS pages but have read quite a lot on here.

I am considering ordering from Abel & Cole (their Small mixed box for £10) as I am finding that I am spending a lot of money needlessly when I pop to the shop for fresh fruit and veg. I don't have a market near me and can never get to the greengrocer as I work long hours.

Has anyone used this service? Is it good value for money? How much would I get in the small mixed box? I can see on the website what is in this week's but it doesn't state quantities.

    Thanks for your help!

I get the small mixed box alternated with the small deluxe box and it's more than enough for me, but i eat at my boyfriend's half the week and as i share a house i can't cook in bulk (no freezer space).

I have always had veggies of excellent quality from them, and at considerable less cost than if i bought the same things from the supermarket. I do live in London though, so this might make a difference if you live outside it (all the people here who seem to have had bad experiences appear to be outside London and had an external courier

    This week i got

    bag of plums
    bunch of 5 bananas
    tub of blueberries
    big bag of chard
    3 beetroot
    new potatoes
    a big lettuce
    5-6 carrots

I much prefer getting my veggie box than going to the supermarket (or even the local market)-i hate shopping, and working fulltime means i'd rather do fun things that shop on my time off!

My partner and I opted to try Riverford about 3 months ago! They've been absolutely fab - wonderfully fresh veg, no duds, and no complaints from us. Fantastic - they've really transformed our meal times. Great value, too.

I used to use Abel & Cole and always found them fantastically flexible but I live in London ... maybe that makes a difference? They'd deliver for free as long as you ordered £6 worth of food - bag of apples, peppers, onions, potatoes, for instance. I always found the quality really good. I stopped using them after a while though because I was shopping locally at a wholefoods/grocery place near me instead.
