Anybody think this advert is misleading, not to say dishonest? It accuses free sites (including MSE) of "taking your money" before directing people to a site that will charge you a fee for a consultation to reduce your bills.

I thought it might be a good idea to mention it, in case something ought to be done about it by somebody, but I wasn't sure which bit of the forum to put it on Here seemed as good as any.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

lmao. The site it links to says:Order now at the 'Limited' discounted priceNormal Price £97Limited Discount £19.97It's just a con using 'legit' sites to look like cons to drive you to another total con.
Thanks for the amusement thoughStarting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Its been taken down - did it mention MSE specifically? If it did its defamatory.

It said something like "sites like these" and then had a series of logos gradually appearing and disappearing one after the other. The green MSE banner that goes across the top of the site's pages was definitely included, along with comparethemarket.com, moneysupermarket.com, confused.com and several others. I only watched it once but as far as I can rembember it said the sites listed "claim to help you save money" but "actually make thousands of pounds out of you" or millions of pounds or something along those lines.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Being defamed is a sign of success and popularity. Still annoying and potentially harmful to all the sites so named though. Good that the site has been taken down, but it would be nice if the scrotes could be prosecuted under libel laws.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

Found deleted link from the same site.
It's a piece posted by "expertmoneysaver" (even uses Martin Lewis and moneysavingexpert as search terms) and a link there takes you to deleted link
where the info is very familiar. I wonder where he found out all this! Even shows his Quidco earnings.
I have removed the links. If anyone from the MSE team wants them, just PM me!
It's only a game

I didn't see it myself, but if it as you stated then it is perfectly true. The difference is that MSE clearly state what are and aren't affiliate links which make them money, and indeed offer a standard link tooOf course MSE doesn't promote certain products to make cash either.

I can't remember the exact wording now, but since in my OP I put "taking your money" in quotes, I think that must have been a quote from the video. Yes, of course MSE makes its money from the * links, but to accuse it of "taking people's money" is defamatory.
MrsBartolozzi - if you read this before the forum team edit your post, I suggest you remove the link yourself. I put the same link in my 2nd post on this thread and the forum team removed it so as not to give the site any advertising or exposure, which makes sense to me now that I think about it.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
