Hi there.
Called SE today as on E7 and we really use electric after work etc. 1st guy I spoke to sounded really helpfull, said I would call back as wanted to think about useage first etc.
Just called and lady admitted didn't really know, but seem none of them know if i'm tied into a contract if i change meter or tarriff??? And secondly they are all comming up with different hours for the rates. First one was as follows
Rate 1) 5hrs to heat storage heaters and water, with 2 hrs boost. Normally between 1pm - 5pm
Rate 2) 7:30pm - 7:30am Monday to Friday and weekend off peak
Rate 3) 7:30am - 7:30pm Peak
However the other chap advised the same but said you woin't know when you 5 hours are for heating etc as depends on region...well that would be rubbish surely as you need to know when you can heat your water for baths etc surely??? I have seen previous posts but does anyone have any updates as really just want the rates in their entirety...not sure why SE haven't posted on internet
Probably because they are confused with it also!!!

Your rate 1 is in the same time frame as your peak rate three, you probably meant 1 am to 5 am ( i.e during the night).
You'll soon know when you are on the low rate as thats when you storage heaters will switch on and commence charging (via the radio switching device in or attached to your meter). Then all you have to do is set your timers to come on within that period. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Just spoken to them again. I now know about the 3 rates. However there is one major loophole i believe in the tarrif. Your rate 1) designed for heating and water is allocated 7 hours (2 for a boost). However what no one can tell me is when these 7 hours are!!!!!!!!! Apparently is controlled by the weather.
Now I may be being thick, which is not uncommon. But all i need to know is when I can use my hot water as my immersion heater won't keep it warm if they heat it at 7am for example when I work shift and need it at 6pm. So what do they mean by weather controlled and the other thing is how do they know when I am cold in my area???? The olnly thing holding me back is this hot water mullarkey...can anyone shine any light? Also can I just turn on the immersion at rate 2 when it's cheaper ie after 7:30pm???0
