I was searching for some song lyrics when my Mcafee detected a Trojan. If I tried to clean, delete or quarantine it, a dialogue box appeared, saying that it was write-protected. I emptied my temp IE files (the path showed that it was there) then scanned with McAfee, which had found it originally, but is not finding it now. There are no obvious symptoms, I did a Google search and found THIS on the trend micro page, but my PC is not showing those symptoms. I have also scanned with CC and AdAware, which nothing found.
I am going away very early in the morning and am pushed for time now - do you think it's fixed?
Thanks.

I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.

If something is write protected you can always remove it using a DOS window.
Open a command window, navigate to the folder and delete it)

the mcafee on access scanner probably stopped it writing to the disk, so your probably ok ..
scan with an independent online scanner to make sure.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Most Exploit attacks can be foiled by downloading latest windows patches/updates. Unfortunately there isn't a one for the above, still I recommend keeping your automatic updates on. If you have kept them off, then there is an option of downloading critical updates at Microsoft website. I too recommend that you use an online virus scanner, although it is almost a certainity that VSHIELD / Onaccess scanner , would have detected and deleted the beast. Ensure that you are behind a firewall.Inside I am THINKING.0
