    I picked some up today and they were the 8x variant, technical info RITEKG05 (Although the packaging states made in Japan which must be a mistake!) so I'm going to take them back as that particular code is cheaper for me online.

    Nice to see they aren't excluded from the money back guarantee, though I wonder if they'll accept the one back without the plastic wrapping around it :D

    Hmm. Play.com were doing the same with the whole 8x + 16x idea. Maybe that is all Maxell is producing these days?

    Is there something I can download to tell what dye it is?

    I've got nero - is there something in that?

    Edit - Found it using Nero CD-DVD speed. I've got TTG02 dye on my Datawrite Yellows

    Can you only get them at that price if you reserve them online?

    I might be going into town tomorrow, but then again might not so don;t want to reserve them if I'm not going in.
