Reserve price fees

Hi

Please could some one explain how the reserve price fee works.

I want to list something which i want a minimum amount for, lets say £100

know ive just gone to list and put my start at .99 with a reserve of £100

well my fees show as

Insertion Fee : £1.30Gallery Plus : Free Reserve Price Listing : £1.99Total:*£3.29


However if i list as starting £100 - my fees are just £1.30

so why when i list at 99p which is free do i pay the £100 start price cost and then charged the £1.99 extra for a reserve? surely it should be free to list at 99p or the fee of the insertion and then the amount for the reserve listing i.e. 1.99 - why do they charge me the listing as if i was starting at £100 and then a fee for having a reserve?

surely im better off starting at £100 or just under without the reserve, why do people bother with a reserve when they are paying out additonal £1.99 and what happens if my item doesnt sell for my reserve am i charged the £3.29 listing fee even though it didnt make £100?

Sorry but this area is one i really dont understand with ebay listing fees.

I can't explain e-bay fees sorry.

But as a buyer I hate reserve prices

Reserve fees are very expensive and are not refunded or even given as a relist credit if item fails to sell. It is much cheaper, as you have found, to just start item at the price you want for it.

why do people bother with reserve fees then if it costs so much more, i remember in the old days when you could have a reserve of 9.99 or 4 on an item and not a minimum of £50
