how to compare tariffs
Hi all we're on scotttish power fixed tariff until end of this month and want to compare other companies' prices. Stupid question I know but should we get all out bills out for 1 full year and look at how many therms we use (we've got both gas and electricity with sp at the moment). I haven't had to chance to look at comparison sites yet but do they go on number of units or cost? thanks if anybody can be bothered to help as I know it's a bit of a dumb question and I should be able to do my own research. thanks

Hi melb
You should always use units rather than cost when using the comparison sites. Also, if you ring sp they will be able to tell you your annual usage to save you going through the old bills.
Good luck

As mike said, always use units instead of cost, just be aware that gas units may have to be converted into Kwh for putting into a comparison site (Gas meters measure in eith cubic metres or cubic feet)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

uswitch definitely works in units or cost and asks what you are on, best ask sp what tarriff you are on just so any comparisons are as accurate as possiblethings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok
