Thailand in September

Hi,

Me and my partner are looking to go to Thailand around the 2nd week of September for 2 weeks with 3 days in Bangkok, 5 nights in Koh Samui and 6 nights in Phuket. Reading into it some more it appears to be rain/monsoon season. I am just wondering whether people have experience of Thailand at this time of year? i.e. do they tend to be passing showers or all day long?

Thanks in advance!

Steve

We have been to Krabi and Bangkok at this time of year and usually the weather is fine. You might get some heavy rain but it doesn't usually last long.

We understand that the weather in Phuket can be a bit more unpredicatable. The current weather reports appear good though.

We were due to be travelling to Bangkok / Phuket & on to Krabi leaving the UK today for almost 3 weeks, and we were not worried about the weather - it will still be hot!

Unfortunately we got ripped off by our travel agent and we can't go at the moment, so don't book through thailandbeachholidays.co.uk or saltravel.co.uk!

But I would say go for it & have a great time! You should love Thailand!

    Regards

We are going to Phuket in mid September and I was a bit worried initially as the charts showed a lot of rain in Phuket in September, but on looking on tripadvisor forums, it seems that it normally rains heavily for a while then the sun comes out again. It will be hot anyway, so we dont mind staying in the swimming pool or at the bar if it rains.
I understand it is not rainy in Koh Samui in September though.

Thanks! I am off in Mid September to Bangkok for 3 nights and then currently got 4 nights free (probably going to do Phuket) and then 6 nights in Koh Samui to finish, does anyone have any suggestions as to where to go in between BK and KS?

Hope you both have a great time.
  • You could try catching small boat from Phuket to Koh Phi Phi for two days, and then boat to Ao Nang/Krabi area for two or whichever suits you. From Krabi, bus to KS takes about 3 hrs to port, then ferry transfer either daytime (2hrsmax) or night (6 I think). Can then get ferry back to mainland and get Airasia flight from Surat Thani (about 1hr from port) to Bkk for about a tenner booking in advance...Wkd times.

  • We're off to Koh Samui a week on Friday. I checked the 5 day weather forecast and it was showing heavy rain, but I've been to Thailand twice before (Koh Samui, Koh Pi Pi and Krabi) round this time of year and yes you do get the odd downpour, but it's nothing like the rain you get here!

It rains hard for about half an hour and then stops...and actually it can be quite nice as some parts are very humid this time of year.
