What would be a fair/reasonable fee for an Estate agent to charge for valuing a property for Probate?

I would say that anything below £100 plus Vat would be fair.
We charge £80 but I have known other agents to quote £150 :eek:My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say

Thanks to all. This also is what I was thinking as fair, around the £100 mark but my mother in law has just received a letter from the estate agent asking for £384.80 for doing it even though she had only asked them to do it for probate and that she might sell the house after probate. Nothing was in writing.0

Yes (sadly) it was done - valued - November last year and because Mother in law hasnt put it on the market the Estate agent has sent her the bill for the valuation.0

I would not pay it under any circumstances! That is absolutely ridiculous.
Did your Mother in Law sign anything when they valued the property?
