Red Letter Days Voucher Expired -- Lost all money!!

Has anyone experienced problems with this company?
My husband bought me a Red Letter Days voucher for Christmas. I was just about to book my Spa day when I realised that the voucher has expired!!
Red Letter Days says the terms and conditions clearly state that vouchers are valid for 7 months and aren't giving me a penny back or letting me have my Spa day......All I have to show for £150 is a poxy red box with one of their brochures! Can they really do this? Surely this isn't fair!!

Yes they can do this. You had 7 months to use the voucher and didn't. It's not their fault.0

How long did you think the voucher was valid for?
Unfortunately you have lost the money. Their T&Cs are very clear:
Red Letter Days: My voucher has expired, what should I do? All of our vouchers have a clear expiry date on them, as long as you contact us in that time period we can offer you further flexibility on dates to actually go on the experience. All of our vouchers include a 14 day grace period after expiry. If you're still within that time period, please contact one of our team and they will be happy to get you booked on the experience of your choice.0 -
I bought some milk from tescos at christmas.
I went to pour it on my cereal this morning, and it was lumpy and sour.
Can I sue tescos ?
Sorry to be sarcastic, but the T&C are clear. The reason for the expiry is to ensure turnover at the companies which use RLDs to get business.Legal team on standby0 -

Yes, they really can do this.
Yes, it is fair - not their fault you've had it in a dusty cupboard for knocking on eight months without looking and checking valid dates.
I have dealt with them before, and they gave me two extensions on the original expiry date when I got in touch in advance and requested - they're a very helpful company in my opinion and I'd recommend them to anyone, and so far as I can see, the problem here's clearly not with them.......Oh come on, don't be silly.
It's the internet - it's not real!0 -
I had one for sky diving and was going to book it for summer last year but I ended up in hospital for just short of 5 months so it expired whilst I was in there, I was well gutted but that's the way the cookie crumbles. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00

i have used them with no probs.
had trouble booking and they extended my dates, but i did contact them before the expiry date (just).
The voucher has the expiry date on and its there for a reason!!0 -
Come up with a really great innovation, take it on Dragons Den and you can bring it up with the managing directors - but you still won't be able to use it.Male.

Yes, but terms can be found to be "unfair" in court as was the case with a retailer called RedSave who a took to court a while back and as has been found with banks' excessive/disproportionate charges. What's more, in this case the consumer and the person agreeing to the terms are not normally the same. I think it's fundamentally unfair. If you have a gift voucher for Boots or Argos, they're typically good as cash in those companies and have no expiry date. In the case of Red Letter Days, they are dependent on people forgetting to use vouchers as a key source of revenue -- that is fundamentally unfair. My issue is that £150 has been paid in exchange for nothing....not even a bottle of off milk!:mad:0

loads of gift vouchers have expiry dates, maybe they are longer than 7 months but ive noticed this many times.
i agree its unfair but this is why i never buy gift vouchers, cash is best0
