  • makes no odds to me really, i cant say it bothers me either way. i tend to hover over the 'thanks xxxx' ones to see what theyve won in the preview pane if i cant be bothered opening the posts lol

  • I don't want to upset or offend anyone, and I'm not moaning. This is just something I've noticed while looking through the IWIWIW part of the forum and I'm interested to see what others think.

Posts in I Won used to carry titles stating the prize. I see now that the majority of posts seem to carry titles saying 'Thanks ******'.

I don't have a problem with this as such, I just think it's a bit of a shame. While it's great that people take the time to thank the OPs (and I definatley wouldn't like that to stop), I feel the forum just doesn't have the same 'feel' to it as when people titled their posts with the prize.

Maybe it's just me :p and I hope I'm getting my point across clearly. Reading through IWIWIW just doesn't feel the same when most of the threads are titled 'Thanks *****'.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday, it would be better if it said what they won

I try to do both. The main purpose of my posts is always to thank the person who posted the comp, thats why their name goes in the title. But I also try to put the prize there too :)
    Thanks to all posters!

I really don't think it makes a difference, its such a minor detail - at least people are thanking and that's got to be a good thing, however it's done. If people don't want to open every post, then thats up to them. I do it to thank the OP for posting the comp, not really to show off to everyone else what I've won, my wins are in my signature if people want to look at them :D

It's that random that I can't even remember how I do mine, I think I usually write 'Thanks ******' in the title and then go into further detail in the post.

Like niccyulverston said, if people don't want to open the post to see what I've won, then they can just hover over it to have a nosy, I really don't see that it matters either way - I dont think there should be 'rules' about how people post here too!
Thanks to all who post comps!

  • Thanks for your replies, very interesting.

I don't mind seeing Thanks in the title, I just think it's nice to see what the prize was as well if poss.

RCB, totally agree about the Buzz thing, it is great when someone wins a comp you've posted (and you post plenty *bows down in thanks*).

It is a minor thing (obviously got too much time on my hand today lol), I was just curious.

Interesting topic! I think it doesn't matter so much about stating what prize you have won the title, I think the most important thing is definately thanking the OP. It doesnt take a sec to click on the post to see what they have won!

But I do understand where you're coming from!

I had never thought about it before to be honest, but if there are even just a few people that prefer to see the thanks in that format then it wont cost me any extra time to do that! :j

I have just posted 2 IWIWIW threads that way today.....and doing it like that will stop me from being so random in my titles too! :rotfl:

I like to see the prize in the title, as well as a Thanks to the OP.
Mainly becuase I'm jealously scanning through IWIWIW to see who has won the latest big prize :)

Would be nice to see rather than just thanks and the ops name. What irritates me is when people post their win but if you check back on to link to the comp posting they havent thanked the op after entering it. Sometimes I wonder if 1000's enter off here rather than 100's. ;)

To be honest I'm absolutely terrified of posting in IWIWIW full stop,

on my first day on these forums, totally new, didn't know what I was doing, learning the ropes, I had a peep in the Inn, everyone was knocking the newbies, and how they post in IWIWIW and thanking the wrong person etc etc I'm of the frame of mind 'well at least they tried'

those 'Inn' posts have never gone my thoughts, and everytime I think I must post thanks in IWIWIW 9 times out of 10 I bottle it and don't bother, in that situation I do send a pm,

I was brave enough to do a list of 'I won' once and am planning to do one again, I'm sorry if it goes against everyones liking, I'm just a nervous wreck when it comes to posting on here :o
This will (hopefully) be mine No 131
