I always say the same thing when asked this question - sorrento, italy!

  • Consider Santorini. I wanted to go there for my Honeymoon really badly, but we just wouldn't have got the weather in February - I had to settle for the Maldives instead :p

Feb / March / Apr is peak season for Maldives and the like so I doubt you'd get anything decent for your £2k budget - still if you fancy leaving it late before you book you might pick up a bargain.

Last year my OH took me to the Maldives for my birthday in June, he only paid just over £1000 for the both of us!

    How did he manage that?

Thank you all for your help, given me a few bits to think about. Gonna go have a look at Italy.

We're getting married in April! We have a similar budget to you and originally intended to drive to the south of France. After being completely unable to find decent hotels in our price range. We've eventually decided on Madeira, mostly because the Melia Mare hotel looks very nice and the island seems very scenic, very honeymoonish!

We had the same thoughts as you, quiet, but plenty to see and do and I think Madiera fits that nicely, lets hope anyway!

there are loads of different islands in the maldives, which all cater for different audiences. the cheaper islands e.g. kuredu are within your budget even in March/April (which is the high season in the maldives) but if you went in say June your money would stretch further (but the weather wouldn't be quite as good).
  • oh no. i read the title aznd was going to suggest . . , . the maldives!!!! my friend has just honeymooned out there and said it was perfect.
We married in april and honeymooned in malta - it rained and we wore jumpers all week!!!!

There is no excuse for rudeness. Ignorance on the other hand is excusable – you don’t know what you’re talking about.
