Does anyone think it would be worth complaining about this! Is it allowed?

Talk Talk take peoples numbers from their website when they type in to see if the service covers their area!

They then phone from their call centre keeping on until you answer trying to sell you their service admitting they took your number from the website.

A warning to anyone if you type in your number you may get called but they dont tell you this!

i see. Its very small print. I dont think it should be allowed anyway. Can you not browse a website these days without someone calling you?

You didn't just 'browse a website'. You supplied your phone number to them to use the checker, and they used that data to try and sell to you, as the website advised they would.
You had expressed an interest in their service and they responded.

    They are annoying though.

When I checked using their website for broadband availability for my mum's phone number (as we're trying to get the septegenarian up to date!!), they phoned up a few hours later.

They were told that, because they had phoned up, they would NOT be getting our business.

Indeed, however it is a below the belt way for a company to operate, typical of Talk Talk, why anybody uses their service ( I use the word service lightly ) is beyond my comprehension.

Also, what happens if somebody decides to put the wrong number in?, some poor sod is then plagued with phone calls from Talk Talk through no fault of their own.

Good point. That is the real objectionable thing about the scheme.

Also if the " poor sod " was signed up to the telephone privacy scheme, that would put Talk Talk in to very shady territory.

Talk Talk are a complete nightmare,, Yes I would make a compliant they think they can just get away with anything, and they need stopping. If your still looking to change try the Post Office its worth a look
