Returning an item

I'm sorry if this has been asked before...

I'm going to return an item for the first time. Does the price of the item + postage get refunded or just the item cost? E.g. If the item was £20 and postage £10 would I get a refund of £30 or just £20.

When returning the item what happens with the return postage? I have read conflicting advice about who is responsible. Some say the seller has to pay regardless if the item is damaged but I have also read that if the seller states the buyer is responsible for return postage then they don't have to pay it. Bit confusing.

You are responsible for return postage. Good sellers will refund if the return reason was there fault but they dont have to.

You will get refunded your original payment item cost plus postage
