Foxtons - Deposit

We have provided a forwarding address and our mail in being forwarded so if they had sent it we would have received it.
I have the checkout report but it is not clear on there what they replaced. I asked foxtons and they replied saying it was minor things such as cutlery and lightbulbs (no proper list provided)
Lighbulbs were not on the inventory and there were 3 pieces of cutlery missing. For this they have charged us £50
With regards to the rent we were alway paying in advance from the 28th to the 28th of each month. I paid the last rent on June 28th (covering up to July 28th). We moved out July 25th.
It does not make sense that they have charged us from 27th - 31st)
As per previous post there in nothing in the contract which says they can make deductions without informing us. In fact there are 3 clauses which say they must provide written confirmation of deductions and we must agree in writing to the deductions.0 -
Can only imagine that it would have been protected. Would be suprised if it wasn't
As said, you should contact the scheme directly to ensure it was reported.
One poster above has been very useful but is wrong in two ways. Firstly it is not a criminal offence not to protect a deposit, but a civil one. The crown prosecution service will never be involved and it requires a private trip to the court.
Secondly, believe it or not this dispute is nothing to do with Foxtons. The protection of the deposit is the responsibility of THE LANDLORD. Foxtons are just their representative, and if you do not contact the Landlord for the *full* return of your deposit and to make them aware of their failure to protect then you will not get anywhere. Foxtons will know you cannot sue them and will just ignore it.
Look on your contract to see who your landlord is and what their address is.0
