Opionions & Advivce Needed - Should I Fight a PCN

I recently received a Penalty Charge Notice on Caledonian Road (Islington N7).

I have parked in the same place every week for over 6 months when I visit my girlfriend. I always check the signs as I understand it is a controlled zone and the restrictions are frequently changed due to football events. In all this time I have never been issued with a ticket.

I also attached 2 photos of the parking signs, one was taken when I arrived, and the other was taken when I departed. Both photos state the same time restrictions, which indicate I could park there.

When I got the ticket I realised there was double yellow lines, however, the ‘new’ added line, was not the usual bright yellow, but a watered down yellow, so it appears its been there for a while and its less noticeable, I understand the lines was there however I regularly park there and didn’t notice the added line, and the sign stated that I could park there at that time.

I sent an appeal by email however this was rejected, and the rejection email included photos taken by the warden of my car parked on the double yellow lines.

I am very annoyed about this, however I would like the opinion of others with knowledge of this subject to see if it is worth pursuing. I now have limited time to pay the 50% fine before it is doubled.

I believe
- the signs and road markings contradicted each other
- the added line was made to appear less obvious
- there was no notification of the new line being added
- the ticket says that the colour of my car is ‘black’, however it is actually ‘blue’

Any advice or opinions would be appreciated. I want to fight this, however I’m concerned as I know how incompetent most local authorities are and don’t want my credit rating affected due to further fines being enforced.

On a related note, I now know how under hand and unscrupulous the parking system is. Signs are ambiguous; staff are unhelpful and have limited understanding themselves. I have felt that the whole appeal system is there to infuriate the penalised person further.
