service station parking ticket

Has anyone else like u received a parking ticket for parking on a service station. This one has left me fuming. My partner pulled into Knutsford Service Station after driving all night. He was tired and felt unsafe to coninue driving. He slept for about five hours and then continued home in the morning. We have now received a parking ticket issued by CP Plus Ltd asking for fifty pounds going up to eighty if not paid by 26th august. Am i completely stupid or is the whole point of service stations to provide a rest area for tired drivers. CP Plus say there are signs around the parking area stating 2 hours free parking and a £10 charge after that but how many tired people are going to be paying attention to the signs when driving in to take a rest? How worrying is this and how likely is it that tired drivers will continue to drive tired rather than pay his ridiculous charge. Has anyone else has this experience and what are people's views, has anyone had any successes challenging something like this? What can be done about it? I hate geting parking tickets as most people do but most of the time i pay it and hold me hands up knowin i parked smewhere i shouldn't, this is on a whole different level to me and i refuse to pay this!!!!!!!

Ignore it.Do not correspond with them and eventually they will give up and go away.Expect a lot of scary letters before this happens.

put it in the bin and NEVER respond or have any contact with these cowboys. They have no power to charge you anything.

Whilst you are right about the powers they have it is not recommended to Bin the invoice, always file it away safely, just in case they get a**y at some time in the future.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

having heard this on j.vines show it occured to me that i had been in the service station for more than two hours , a thing i would not as a rule do, i hate the places, but after doing some courier work to wales i had a pick from heathrow, at 12.50 pm so drove down the m4 until i came accross this service station, as i had some time to kill, i had an all day breakfast, yuk!!! and at £11 + with coffee double yuk,but i had been driving since 0500am so it was a good time to stop before i picked up my customer and returned to milton keynes. I only get £60 for the pick up so if i paid this parking charge( that come through my door 4/9/10) i would be out of pocket and it would have cost me £1 57p to do the airport job. so have decided that i will not under any circumstances pay, i have read the comments from others on this site, do you have any advise ?
  • having been the victim of these people i have just received a demand fo £50 , and have decided not to pay, can anyone give me any advice as to how to conduct this situation

None other than that given elsewhere. Do not pay, do not contact them, file the invoice and threatening letters you receive later for future reference. When you need to be worried is if you're issued with court papers. This rarely happens and when it does it is often a bluff from the parking company hoping you pay up. But even if it goes to court, a properly defended case would not go in their favour.

Yep, as stated above, file the invoice away and ignore.

Thirded, you only have to ignore the letters, it's easy when you KNOW it's a scam.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You will only be a victim through choice.
Not being a victim is very simple indeed.
