I bought a new HD Ready TV in November 2007 and at the same time upgraded to Sky HD. It became apparent soon afdterwards that we had a problem with the HD signal called out Sky initially who said it was the TV then called the LG . Since June 2008 we had had several visits from Sky and TV engineers and we are still unable to receive a HD signal through the TV - it's not the sky box becasue it works on another tv we have. LG told me to contact the supplier under the sale of goods act as the tv is now out of warranty. They asked for an independent inspection which I provided and now they say they won't replace becasue it's fair wear and tear! Fact is we have never received an HD signal on this TV despite paying Sky the TV is faulty pure and simple but they won't listen! Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, my dad upgraded to sky HD not long ago because he had what he thought was a HD ready TV, we couldn't get the correct picture and after googling the make and model i discovered he actually had a 'HD supported' TV
We had to buy extra cables and select the HD on the TV, nightmare, so just ended up buying a new TV.
Sorry i know not much in the way of advice if your TV IS HD ready, but just though i would mention that sometimes people think it is HD when it needs switching.
Try googling the make and model to see if any other problems have been reported, it may be a faulty batch.0 -
There is a big difference between HD ready tv's and 1080p HD ready. To get full HD you need a 1080p tv NOT just a HD ready tv.0

So you need a 1080p HD TV to watch Sky HD do you? Strange sky don't even broadcast in 1080p. I think the problem lies with the OP's HDMI input on the TV. I seem to recall that some manufacturers resolved this issue through firmware updates. My farts hospitalize small children0 -

Yes you do need a 1080p tv to watch HD such as a blu ray disc but yes you are correct in stating that sky (or anyone else for that matter) do not transmit in 1080p only 1080i which is very different.0 -

That's a bit misleading IMO
How I understand is
Hd ready TVs are 1080i
Full DH TVs are 1080p
You can view blue ray, Sky HD etc on each, you just have to adjust the settings on your set.Quotes in context only please.0
