Item doesnt fit

I sold an item on ebay, sent special delivery, item has been received. Despite the buyer asking sizing before buying and me listing the measurements from the actual item they are saying its too small.
It is as described, brand new so no shrinkage to take into consideration and a branded item so the sizing information I also supplied was for that brand. The buyer has emailed saying it doesnt fit, what should I reply? They havent asked for a refund or anything as yet just a message saying it didnt fit but they will be expecting a reply.
I'm not a business seller any advice please...?

I would send them a polite message saying you are sorry to hear it doesn't fit, but as the size was correctly stated, and specific measurements were given, you will not be issuing a refund on this occasion.
If they open a dispute, fight your corner with paypal/ebay, and point out that specific dimensions were given, not just a size!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thanks pinkshoes I have wrote and rewrote a message trying to get the wording right. I called ebay and they said that the listing clearly shows measurements so item cannot be claimed as not as described regarding sizing, cannot imagine paypal being as helpful...wish me luck :rolleyes:0

I always think that is a good idea. It shows you are sympathetic but it still a firm 'no' to any hint that you might be bullied into a refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thats brilliant. lol
Personally if I was the buyer I would keep and resell, I certainly would rather keep it than lose £15 in postage for special delivery costs to try something on.
I am worried in case something deliberate 'happens' to the item  and a dispute goes in for a tear or something as the item is new, perfect and expensive, if this was to happen I would be extremely angry. Maybe I read too many bad stories on here but its on my mind as if I was forced to refund under these type of circumstances I would want the item back in its original state.0 -
I had a buyer ask for a full refund as the skirt was too short for her, she was 6ft tall she told me!!!
I had put the length measurement in my listing, the buyer tried to get a refund under the "not as described route" but ebay ruled agaisnt her, I still got a neg though

Is it just me or is there always problems for clothes sellers reguarding sizing?0

Yes, there is, i sold something once that was knee length on me and i stated this in the listing, giving my height and the measurements of the item.0

I totally sympathise with you. Awhile back I sold an old suit on eBay with various measurements and stated in the listing to feel free and contact me for more information. In the end I sold this wool suit for about £15, but when the buyer received it she said that the arms were too short. Okay, they weren't too short on me, and granted it wasn't one of the measurement I have put, but I didn't think it was a big deal and she should have asked if it was going to be a problem.
Anyway I said no a few times but in the end relented because I didnt want to end up with a negative feed back, as I have had over 100 positive over the last 6 years as an eBayer both selling and buying. But at £15 for a wool suit, why she felt the need to battle against me on the apparent basis that item was not as described instead of selling it on is beyond me!!
I mean, sometimes you win some and lose some with clothes on eBay, but that is why they are so cheap! 0 -
If i buy clothes on ebay i can never be bothered to argue if there not as described, (unless they are in a really bad state), its not worth the hassle to be honest, i would rather just sell them on and make back what id spent on the item and p&p.
I often buy stuff and it doesnt fit, thats a risk i take buying with out trying on, but im not going to pay to return it, its easier to sell on and as long as i get my money back from selling on im happy
)
If you want something thats brand new and you can gaurentee its going to fit then go to your local shop where you can try it on and get a size smaller or bigger! thats what i say0
