Mortgage Protection and tribunals

I launched a formal grievance against my employers quite some time ago because working conditions were really bad where I worked. Surprise surprise, before a grievance hearing could even be heard I was made redundant with my employer citing 'economic' reasons.
Anyway, I took my loan and mortgage protection forms to my previous bosses who have told me, unofficially of course, that they won't sign my forms unless I withdraw the grievance and promise not to go to tribunal.
I was totally shafted on my redundancy package but I am still tempted to go along with itheir demands because of the immediate financial implications for my family...no payment protection means I have to find the money on JSA
Any suggestions as to what I can do?

Don't you have a letter saying you were dismissed due to redundancy.
Is that not enough to make the claims.0 -
I do. But my boss says he can make it look like I knew redundancy was looming , making my policy void. Redundancy was NOT looming - I had a 'consultation' one week and gone the next and I am positive it is because of the grievance - I am very confident that I meet the terms and conditions of the policy but they can chuck a spanner in the works.
I think that even if there is slightest wiff of controversary the insurance company won't pay out. And if there is an investigation I still have to find the money in the interim0 -
What your employer is doing (according to your post) is underhand and shameful but I think you need to measure the effects of not getting the PPI against the possible benefits about taking the grievance forward.
You may wish to cut your losses and move on.
Your other option is to contact a lawyer to call their bluff and threaten to take them to tribunal for breach of process as what they are doing falls foul of the regs re grievances (an employer who is proven to have threatened an employee in order to get a grievance withdrawn will get absolutely hammered at tribunal) - it will cost you to do this however and there are no garuantees it will work.Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -
Nail on the head there Pete...proving it. There is no doubt in my mind about what went on as there is no room for doubt but proving it in front of a tribunal is a different ball game. How would an average Joe go about that?0
