Changing Supplier - easiest way to find unit costs?
Hi
I want to change supplier but all the comparison sites gives estimated bills (which are never anywhere near reality in my experience). What I woulk like to see is a list of suppliers and the cost per unit of Gas and Electricity. Does anyone know where I can find these listed?
Thanks
Jane

On a results page click 'show all results' if that option is there.
You can then scan down the list and choose which tariffs' details to open in a new window. For example, on Uswitch, you can fancy-(open link in new window)-click the tariff names to open up separate windows with unit prices.0 -
On most (all?) comparison sites you can enter your annual usage in kWh.
This is the most accurate way of comparing tariffs.
Having crunched through the numbers for a couple of sites and ACTUAL usage (kWh), they did produce accurate estimates when I plugged in my numbers and the rates on offer.
The only caveats I have found, are when you are required to pay an IGT charge for the supply of your gas.
This has not been taken into account by any site that I am aware of, and can add an extra ~£40+ to your gas bill (per annum) - dependant on the tariff that you are signed up to.
Second caveat, not all tariffs are displayed by all comparison sites, and when new rates are coming on stream, some sites take longer to update than others.
