Tied in for a while - sneaky way out?
I'm on a fixed price deal. Had a look at some comparison sites and it looks like I could be saving a lot and get £60 cashback if I switch to EDF. The problem is there is a fee to get out from my current supplier. I read somewhere though that this cancellation charge doesn't apply if you are cancelling due to moving house. Could I ring up the current supplierr and tell them I am moving house and ask for my final bill, then my partner could sign up to EDF? Is there anyway they could find out? After a couple of months could we transfer the EDF account back into my name so everything will be in order again?

Just phone up and say your moving out and your ex wife is taking over the account. Give a forwarding address of your parents or say your have a royal mail redirection. Then just sign up to EDF in which ever name, doesn't need to be your partners name could be yours.
Of course this could be seen as fraud.0 -
Is this worth the risk for £50? My advice would be to wait until you can escape penalty free....and make a mental note to no longer sign up for a gas and electric tariff that makes you pay to leave it when YOU want.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Tell them you are moving out, once the transfer has been arranged you and the wife all of a sudden "make up" and you dont move out.
It does work, I've done itMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Thanks guys. We're not even married, different surnames, so surely that will make it even harder for them to spot what's going on right?0

Do It!! I've tried telling people to do this before. This is absolutely fine. Whats to say you and your partner didnt have a row? In the heat of the moment you moved out, closed your energy account.. 3 days later you patched things up and now your back living together. Your dealing with an energy company, not a detective agency, they will never know.Sunny in Southampton.0
