hi everyone
I really need some advice.
I've been using ebay for over a year constantly as ebayer with hundreds of successful transactions, but one time decided to sell something myself (£450) worth of goods. the buyer who was happy to buy my item asked if he can pay tru paypal and after half an hour meet up in person so he can get it faster than by post (claimed to live one station away from me) seeing the money on my paypal after only few minutes i agreed) after giving away the item it turns out he broken to someones paypal account basicaly using stolen credit card, and after an hour paypal flagged transaction as being "criminal behavior" and put my money on hold. after a week with"open dispute" the real person wrote that she never give permission for transfer and i end up loosing my item, money (has been refunded back to the person) ebay account and paypal.
I've phoned paypal so many times but the customer service is a real nightmare - useless, telling me that all decision has been made by a system not them so they cant phisicaly do anything about it.
They've advised me though to write complaint but after 3 letters explaining everything they havent change their mind, leaving my account limited the way it was and telling me they dont want to have nothing to do with me any longer + leaving me with charges both from paypal and ebay (for listing my ebay not even 10 hours as they automatically closed it after paypal invistigation.
I never had problems with none of them. To be honest i dont want nothing to do with paypal i want to keep my ebay account as i build up a really good 100% positive feedback by buying an items so often and since 2 months i got no acces to it.(to shopoholic like me,believe me its not easy)
Being a victim in this situation i simply dont know to who can i turn to.
all my cards are registered with paypal and they wont let me remove it meaning there is no chance i cant set up a new one.
i need my ebay back!

PayPal tend to lull buyers and sellers in to a false sense of security, people get locked into the idea that their only recourse against a fraudulent transaction is through them, it is easy to forget you are dealing with a real world problem and like any other kind of fraud it is a matter best left to the Police to deal with.
Print off all the relevant information regarding the transaction and go to your local Police station, they will take a statement and investigate.
Too often scammers are under the illusion that because their brand of fraud was online they are exempt from Police intervention, they get a sharp shock when the Police show up at their door, until recently the Police really didn't want to know about this kind of fraud, mainly because they didn't fully understand the mechanics of selling on eBay but they are a lot more savvy now and they will follow your case up.
For future reference only agree to cash for collections in person, personally for something as expensive as £450 I would have opted to sell it through the various online small ads such as Gumtree, Freeads and AdTrader, free to advertise with no seller fees and all of them get you national coverage and the buyer always collects.0 -
There's not a whole lot you can do. The money's gone, you've got pretty much no chance of seeing that again.
As for your ebay and Paypal accounts, the best you can really do is keep phoning.
Not sure if you can have one card linked to 2 Paypal accounts or not, but even if you can opening a new account while one's suspended is a big no-no in the Ts+Cs.
Also, all feedback left for buyers has to be positive, so
is kind of irrelevant from your selling point of view.build up a really good 100% positive feedback by buying an items so oftenBack on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

More of a victim of someones fraud than a Paypal victim I think. DPG has given some good advice0

Dave about my feedback I meant to say i cant afford to loose ebay account and start a new one from zero with a feedback I have earned already- as I am ebuyer there, only one time sold anything and it put me off big time.Anyway I'm not able to register with new one as the details would be all the same - closed circle.
I dont care about the money is lost and partly it was my mistake as I havent got receipt to proof its been sent but because of low life i've got accounts suspended and thats what I'm trying to sort out, police wont bring them back really.
anyone had a similar situation like me ? if yes please write what else i can do.
thanks for trying to help me so far0 -
You're more worried about your ebay account so you can buy stuff online rather than the £450 you've lost??Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I know strange isnt it, More money than sense?
you think im happy i've lost it? NO. u have no idea how mad i was for a long time.
but it's done now and had to get over it thats why they only thing is left which may still be able to fix is to get my accounts back on and thats what im trying to do.
so no need to have this attitude towards me as you dont even know me and thinking to have me all figure out .. cyberbob .. lol0 -

No I dont know you as you dont know me. Its very strange that you are more worried about ebay accounts than anything else.
This whole situation was caused by your own stupidity and lack of basic research. If you had looked at Paypals T&Cs you would have realised that you have to prove delivery to be covered by Paypal. If you had just followed these basic procedures you could have saved yourself money and been fully covered by paypal.
I always find it unbelievable that people sign up to somethimg like paypal and ebay and dont even do the most basic of research
So you can go all Mardy on me if you like but you need to remember that the reason you lost the money was your own stupidity and lack of common sense. So LOL as well at least i'm not the one £450 out of pocket0 -
Oh dear...there's one born every minute, unfortunately.
Firstly, did a big red warning alert not go off in your head when someone wanted to come and collect the goods...but had paid by Paypal?
If they wanted the stuff right away, they could have brought the cash.0
