Just when i thought my utter contempt for Vista was at it's height, I've found a new level.

Workaround
"If you have only one disk installed, and if you have access to Windows XP or Windows 2000 installation media, restart the computer by using the Windows XP or Windows 2000 installation media. Next, format the offending disk, and then reinstall Windows Vista."
It's a joke.

By the way the full explanation and answer can be found here..
http://www.delmartian.com/nullpointers/Workaround-for-STOP-0x0000C1F5-0xC1F5-C1F5-BSOD-CLFS.SYS-KB946084.html
It involves a Linux system rescue cd and typing in a few lines of Linux code.
The cause ?
"This BSOD has nothing to do with any virus/malware, nor is it likely due to any action (or inaction) on your part. This BSOD is caused by a KNOWN BUG IN WINDOWS VISTA (that's why Microsoft has issued the hotfix described in KB946084) and MICROSOFT DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM (the hotfix is preventative only, it will NOT repair a system that is already experiencing the BSOD)."0 -
Hi Chunter,
I have this problem .....
Have you used the work around and if so, did you loose all your previous data ?
I've read the other option with the back up disc but it sounds way to involved for me....
