In the words of the song..... 'it's 5 o'clock somewhere'A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thank you all - I was on the phone at 8 to HSBC's mortgage department to be told that the redemption bit doesn't open until 9.
I was on the phone at 9 only to be told that the redemption people, whilst able to calculate the October interest at £2.57, had to run a few checks out in downtown Mumbai before allowing me to go ahead. Await a phone call, I was told
I was on the phone at 10:30 venting my frustration at having awaited for more than I was comfortable with. Sanjeev drolly informed me that I had called earlier and that I was to await just a wee bit more.
I was on the phone at 12:30 doing some work when a call came in from Nina at HSBC wondering why I had called. In failing to be enamoured with the idea of paying the mortgage off, she goes in the bad books and only slightly rectifies her standing with me by having confirmed that the mortgage is gone, the house is mine (M be damned!), the world is a sunnier place and that the party can start!
I was on the forums at 13:45 noticing the party had been in full swing anyway!!!
Seriously, the nonchalence and bitterness I've seen in the last week or two make a small band of like minded souls all the sweeter so thank you for your very kind words and best wishes. Know that they're returned in spades and, wherever the opportunity arises, I shall endeavour to do you all a turn. Taxi - when I finally get to Blackpool, I want a tour. TYO - as soon as I win the lottery, I know your price for a wee jaunt round the flashy parts of Engerland. Froggy - what the hell are you going to count now!?!? Gally - I do love a wee bit of country and Alan Jackson's 5 o'clock somewhere is one of the first records I heard in Nashville. I like the sentiment and, in Vegas next year, I will ensure I drink to your honour in Jimmy Buffet's Margeritaville. Lilac Pixie - Thank you for your unswerving support and good humour and to everyone else, many, many thanks!
I've just realised, all I need now is to be presented with my Oscar - where is it!?
Naturally, it's a happy day on all fronts. There's a three course fancy dan meal that M began prepping last night for me to tidy up and cook for her coming home from work. The baking (again started last night), I'll pop through and finish presently to allow the good people at work to join in the fun. We've got dinners, lunches, takeaways and parties planned all over the shop in the next 8 weeks to allow everyone we know to celebrate with us and then comes the hard work of getting onto both the current and future houses. I've got my celebratory i-phone to grab tomorrow and I may yet follow that up with a celebratory i-mac and new i-ipod but there's no hurry. Would hate to bankrupt myself now! I'll treat myself to a beer or two tonight in honour of the occasion but I'm pleased to say the euphoria doesn't necessarily wear off. I was scared of feeling a bit let down in paying it off but it is brilliant, paraphrasically, when a plan comes together!!
I've inserted my last submissions to the MFIT-T2 and MFW2010 chellenges and my first (and hopefully last) submission to the mortgage free roll of honour. I've updated the signature which will remain as is for a day before I start looking ahead to a new signature, a new diary as I think it right to retire this one in a few days time and a new focus on all the good stuff that we've been missing out on.
For the sake of good form, I've stuck a few figures in the other posts. The most important one going forward is that the new SOA shows a monthly surplus of £3,214.78 and, whilst we'll neither blow or save it all, we'll strike a more relaxed life balance, splurge when it takes our fancy to do so and, as so brilliant put by newgirly, start having fun!
Cheers again and all the best to one and all,
