Have I got a leg to stand on?

I recently got a Carlisle City Council PCN whilst visiting friends. They have residents parking and we had used a Residents visitor parking permit, where you fill in a line for the date and your car registration and stick it in the window. Trouble is I made a mistake in filling this in and put the wrong date (july rather than august doh!).

I have made an initial appeal on the basis that this is clearly a mistake rather than an effort to park illegally etc. And they have replied saying it is my responsibility to make sure that the details are correct. There is even a mistake on the PCN in identifying the colour of my car though they say this doesn't matter, as the colour is only suplimentary evidence and it being wrong doesn't alter or invalidate the PCN.

So it seems it's not okay for me to make a mistake, but it's fine for them to make a mistake? I accept that the errors are perhaps not of the same magnitute, but it still seems .... well unfair.

Any advice appreciated. Part of me says £25 is not much to pay, but it's just a big ol money making scam, and that makes me want to do something about it.

    Buy a calendar?

Nah, didn't mean it nastily, but good luck on overturning it.

No need, photo the ticket, both sides, remove identifying bits, and post here. See the stickies on how to do it, you will have to put the url of the picture on your post but put a space between http:// and the rest as you are too new to attach photo's yet. When done hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I will be able to help.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

I can also scan and include the piccies that the CEO took when issuing the ticket if this helps, as they included these in the reply to my initial appeal.
