It cost £37 so not mega cheap but not really expensive and if it gives the PC a new lease of life, that's fine.

Just to jump into the cheap PSU debate, a lot of modern gfx cards need at least a 500W supply and a couple of dedicated power rails for them so the PSUs can get expensive.0

If you do need a new PC don't get it from PC World, If it goes wrong they will deny all responisbility and make bull excuses why its your problem and contact the manufacturer. Worth keeping a set of Consumer laws with your Reciept. so you can rub their nose in it when the Customer service guy tried to fob you off.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

now - I REALLY DID NOT WANT to jump in but:- Cheap PSUs power ratings are often less than what is labelled.
- you can get a sub £30 psu and connect it to a machine with 3 hard disks, 2 optical drives etc... and it will not power all the devices. However the > £30 equivalent will.
- They often are noisy - and do run hot. You NEVER get a dell pc with a psu that sounds like it is taking off
so why on earth would you build one that does?
I dunno - its like buying a 1K sound system and using £3 interconnects off of ebay
