Hi i am a single mum and have been offered a place on a hairdressing college course.
I have give my notice at work I have a daytime job. i have also been given a bursary of £86, a week or there abouts to begin when I start college..
I have a 13 year old child at home.
I have today noticed that tesco are advertising for check out staff, they need a few so i was thinking I could fit that around my college maybe doing 16 hours so i can get working tax credits.
Does anyone know if I have to declare this to the bursary fund or will i loose out . Is it really worth me doing 16 hours work and will I gain anything?

It depends on what your bursary is and who is paying it. I would recommend you contact the Student Services department at the College so they can give you specific advice relating to that particular funding.0

well i talked to college I'm getting a bursary plus child tax credits. If work the bursary goes down pound for pound for everything i earn over £20 a week. The council tax and housing benefit takes this into account too. So i wont be better off i will just be time worse off.
I have decided to see if i can get some salon experience on a voluntary basis as not working will drive me madwanting to win a wedding
