Hotel have cancelled on us!!!!

Hi all
Getting married in July and me and wife to be have booked our honeymoon in the Seychelles at the Northolme Hotel..Anyway to cut a long story short I received a phone call from the travel agent yesterday saying that the hotel have cancelled all bookings as they have received a group booking for the entire hotel in that particular week. They have offered to transfer all guests to alternative hotels and suggested a few others such as the Banyan Tree, The Fisherman's cove hotel and the Sainte Anne Resort and Spa. Does anybody have any experience of any of these hotels? What are my rights in terms of can I ask for any compensation. I am quite annoyed about the whole thing as we put a lot of effort and research into choosing the Northolme hotel and now we've been let down thru no fault of our own. Having looked at all the websites of the other hotels they seem to have something not quite right about them....

Banyan Tree- ridiculously expensive restaurants and bar
Fisherman's cove - not as nice as the Northolme hotel
Sainte Anne - seems to be much more family orientated

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

We have been to the Seychelles and stayed at the Reef Golf Club which is no long there. The whole island is fantastic . We loked round several hotels when we where there and would go back to any. The Banyan Tree wasnt built but Fishermans cove was lovely. Another one that was very ncie and in a stunnign location was the Planation Club. Sainte Anne Resort is isolated. To be honest Plantation was far nicer than Northholme. I think its around 1600 each for 2 week or there about. Post back here when they give you prices it might be better to get your money back and rebook.

Only to happy to help we loved it there and I have some great tip and litle hiden treasures we found like the restraunt at that you stay on the shore and the guy comes out with his boat and takes you to a private island ...bliss

I dont kow if this makes a difference. I spotted it on the Hayes and Jarvis site and thought I would put it here becasue it is the wet season when you are going

You appear to have a contract and you should be paid compensation, after all, if YOU had cancelled, they would expect you to pay up.

Speak to Trading Standards a.s.a.p.
