Disc parking - area specific?
I have a parking disc from Cumbria as they have a disc parking scheme where my brother live. When I visited Scarborough the other week, they also have a disc parking scheme but the person I was travelling with said I couldn't use my disc as it was from another area.
Does it matter, does anyone know?

Parking discs are standard devices. When I parked in Richmond a few years back I used a German one. All they are for is to show the time you arrived.0

Thanks, that's what I thought but I didn't want to take the chance at the time just in case. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

And on the Cumbria County Council website it even says...If you don’t have a clock disc it is acceptable to prominently display a hand written note with your arrival time in the vehicle.
I would be inclined to give them a ring, on 01723 232323, but they do say...Q. Where can I get a time clock?
A. They are available from shops and businesses throughout the town, the Tourist Information Centre and the Town Hall.0 -
The Scarborough visit was a one off (have you been there?!!), it just got me wondering if I could use any disc countrywide, or if I needed to get one specific to each place I go to that uses the scheme. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Given the quote in the second post, i'm guessing that as long as they allow for handwritten notes to indicate the time of arrival you could potentally use any regions clock, or even make one yourself (two bits of reasonably thick card, and one of those butterfly clip things for a hub).0

You need a specific clock or a scratch card (you get card from people who pay permits, like residents, or hotels only) which you can which you can get free for some shops or town hall customer service (the clock is dark blue)
they are pretty keen in town centre as I live in Scarborough
I wouldnt risk it myself using another clock as they are keen

Visitor Permit
Parking for visitors to residents is allowed either by the display of a disc clock allowing limited waiting within any zone. To allow your visitors to park for the day they will need to display a scratch card which is available from Parking Services. The scratch card entitles the visitor to park for the full day of validation and up to 10am next morning. Each household within the scheme is allowed to purchase up to 50 visitor scratch cards per calendar year at a cost of 10p per scratch card. Residents requiring care can apply for an attendance permit. This permit allows care workers to park in the zone of the resident they are visiting for an unlimited time.0
