"there are no active mixer devices available. to install mixer devices, go to control panel, click printers and other hardware, and then click add hardware"
That's the message I get when trying to access 'volume comtrol' as there is no sound being played, I thought it was on mute, but NO. I did as instructed above, but I haven't got a clue what I should be installing
any ideas/help/tips anyone please?
A little info. Am on new dell lappy, O/H reformatted it, and he did back up all the drivers before hand, installed winXP that dell sent and the SP2 too, but there doesn't seem to be any sound now
apart from the computer bleeping when there is a system message!
Thanks

Do a Google as this finds quite a few links with the same error or Micrsosoft http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?mkt=en-GB&setlang=en-GB&q=there+are+no+active+mixer+devices+availableRegards,

your O/H should've done the job properly

another vote for missing Dell device drivers. Plug the TAG into www.support.dell.com and away you go
In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?0
